Camel Safari to Oldonyo Lengai – 5 days and 4 nights
Experience the thrill of camel back-riding across the African savannah, with a small group of friends or even alone, surrounded by tradition, wildlife and outstanding scenery.
Camel safaris are the ultimate wilderness experience. They allow you to go deep into the heart of the bush where you can observe closely giraffes, zebras and many other animals without sitting in a vehicle all day, track elephants on foot and get in touch with the local communities that are perfectly knowledgeable of their rich cultural and natural heritage.
This is a fascinating journey through the lands between Mt Meru and Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 1: Meet and greet and drive to Ketumbaine
Meet and greet at Kilimanjaro International Airport, then we drive all the way to Katumaine a Maasai village on the West side of Longido. Accommodation is in simple but comfortable camping tents. Camping toilet and shower facility are available. Dinner and stay overnight in full board basis.
Day 2-4: Camel safaris
In the early morning just after breakfast the camel safari begin. You can choose to ride the camels or if you prefer to walk is ok. You will pass on the big plain area between Gilai and Ketumbainei Mountains which is always full of animals. You will hear during the night the laugh of hyena, and during day you will cross groups of gazelle, zebra and antelopes. In the evening you will relax by a campfire, listening to the savannah sounds under a roof of stars. The accommodation is in comfortable small tents, camping toilet and shower are available. Dinner and overnight stay in a tent in full board basis
.Day 5: Transfer to Arusha
In the morning after breakfast, tourists will start a beautiful walking safari to reach the entrance of Ngorongoro conservation area. The safari finishes at Nayobi village where the safari vehicle will pick you to Arusha Town continue to Kilimanjaro International Airport to take your flight back home or fly to Zanzibar for the beach leisure. The package is inclusive of:
Local guides (Maasai and Meru), riding camels, full board accommodation in small camping tents with shower and toilet facilities, bottled drinking water, one night with typical NYAMA CHOMA (goat roasts on a barbecue), transfer to and from the camel camp, transfers to and from Airport, all government tax and VAT.
