Day 1: Transfer to Nungwi
You are greeted at Stone Town airport by a waiting vehicle and cold mineral After transferring by vehicle to Nungwi, 1 hour away, you will be able to board the boat. After a welcome cocktail and skippers briefing, you can enjoy a light lunch (bitings and snacks) and get busy exploring your cabin and the boat. Post briefing the captain and crew slip the mooring and depart for Mnemba Island, approx a 2hr sail. Here we will anchor for a late afternoon dive/snorkel then sundowners and a dinner onboard. We will anchor here overnight allowing you to get some rest after your travels.
Day 2: Fishing and diving
After an early morning dive/snorkel or kayak, breakfast is served after which we will set sail for Njao Gap. Fishing the famous Pemba Channel enroute and arriving at Njao Gap in the late afternoon. There is also a good chance of encountering bottlenose dolphins as well as large pods of spinner dolphins spiraling up and out of the water enroute! Once at Njao Gap we will anchor for sundowners, dinner and overnight in one of the most beautiful anchorages in East Africa! A night dive in the lagoon area is also a fun option here!
Day 3: A walk to Ngezi Rain forest
After breakfast you can go ashore for a walk through the stunning Ngezi Rainforest and stretch your legs a bit. You might even be lucky enough to get a glimpse of the Pemba Flying Fox (Large Bat.) Other options include a dive/snorkel in the Gap. Once you are back onboard Walkabout we will head south, fishing or sailing our way to Fundu Gap where we will anchor for lunch. A dive at Fundu Gap is highly recommended and for the anglers onboard, there is a good spot to work some jigs and poppers for GT’s and a host of other fish species before heading down to Uvinje Gap to anchor for sundowners, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Diving and snorkeling
An early morning kayak or a dive/snorkel is definitely in order followed by breakfast. We then head south for Mesali Island. Here we will anchor for lunch. After lunch you will have the opportunity to dive and snorkel some fantastic reefs in this conservation area or lie on the beach and work on your tan, swimming, kayaking and snorkeling etc. You will be able to go ashore and explore the island in time to get back for a sundowner and then a BBQ dinner on the beach. You will also have a very good chance of seeing the large coconut crabs that scuttle about on the island at night. Once back onboard Walkabout and everyone has settled in, your captain and crew will weigh anchor at approximately 10pm and depart for a night crossing back to Nungwi, Zanzibar. Relax in style on the trampolines and stargaze before heading down to your cabin for some sleep.
Day 5: Transfer to Nungwi
We arrive in Nungwi at around 5am and tie up to the mooring. Early risers will have the opportunity for a last swim or kayak. Breakfast will be served onboard before disembarking the boat to meet your transfer to airport to catch up your flight to Mafia island. Dinner and stay overnight at Kinasi Lodge in half board basis.
Day 6 – 9: Beach Leisure
This is your time to relax on the beach, have fun beside the pool or go swimming in the Indian Ocean Waters. The hotel is overlooking the sea with very friendly staff. Dinner and stay overnight in half board basis.
Day 10: Transfer to Airport
Depending on your flight time, the driver will pick you up for the transfer to Airport to take your charter flight to Dar essalaam. End of tour
NOTE: This itinerary is an example and is flexible. You will have the option to change it during the course of your charter. Our skipper and crew will advise you on places to go based on your suggestions For instance if you wanted to spend more time diving in Njao Gap, Fundu Gap and Uvinje Gap, or if you prefer to head out into the Pemba Channel looking to tackle some pelagic game fish species on rod and reel, your captain and crew will be more than happy to accommodate you!
